Biografie
Born and raised in & around Antwerp, Fil started listening to music at the age of 10. Every month, his dad bought a tape with all the top hits from that month, and that way he developed a great love for all kinds of music.
At the age of 16 he got his first (Lenco-)turntables and mixer, after dropping small notes in all the mailboxes in his neighbourhood with the question if anybody had some old audiogear in the attic...
At the Age of 18 he had a residency for 2 years in a small bar on the border with the Netherlands, called 'The Twilight Zone'.
Between 2001 & 2004 he explored the flourishing nightlife in Antwerp, and that way he got in contact with lots of dj's & organisers in the underground techno scene in Antwerp. Some time later, he bought 2 Technics SL1200's...
As from 2004, his love for good and funky techno & house has only grown, playing vinyl at home and at afterparties in Antwerp's city centre. In 2008 he decided to buy cdj's, and go partially digital... First with 1xPioneer CDJ 400 + Pioneer DJM400 and 2 Technics, 8 months later he bought his second Pioneer CDJ400.
Since March 2012 he organises his own parties. At first together with 3 friends, dj's & producers VEnom, De*ago & Barry Coleman.
The first 5 months they partied in a small venue, the basement from a cosy bar in Antwerp, called Izzy Maze. The concept was called 'The Basement Bea(s)ts', and they organised some very cosy nights there, resulting in some bigger parties in Petra's Café and the chance to host the Balcony in Antwerp's finest club, Café d'Anvers.
Later that year he also played a great 3-hour set in Petrol (Antwerp) at the party 'Senotorik', a legendary party concept in Antwerp. (set is posted on Micloud - www.mixcloud.com/DeX_TrO/fil-dext…twerp-senotorik/)
He really enjoys playing sets from 3 hours or more combining vinyls, cd's, mp3's on usb sticks and using traktor...
His style can be described as a fusion between minimal & techno with a progressive twist! When he plays longer sets, he likes to combine several different styles of electronic music, from deep house, over tech-house and techno to more psychedelic tunes, and back!
Moving into his own flat in Antwerp in 2012, gave him the opportunity to build his own music studio. Nowadays he's trying to find his own way in 'Ableton', and he's exploring his capabilities to produce his own tracks. Looking forward to hear some stuff in the near future!
