Biografie
The comparative and competitive meaning of benchmarking has not that much to do what Benchmark Techno is all about. It is not necessarily about comparing performances with other DJ's, but to unite the passion for music and sharing an almost devotional love for Techno.
So why Benchmark Techno, where does the name come from?
Take Bench literally. There is a couch synonymous for a laid-back attitude and there is DJ equipment. Nothing is set, everything is possible. Come and perform or come and enjoy. Meet, greet, beat.
The two masterminds behind this project enjoy the sameenthusiasm beyond reason for Techno, which is part of their daily lives. DJing is a solid dedication and heartbeat is measured in BPM's.
Sure - there have been others: Hip Hop, rap,... but there is one true love for both of them when it comes to picking one music style - Techno.
The passion for this music style is routed in different stories, but being born and raised in The Netherlands made getting incontact with Techno inevitable for both. Picture illegal raves in the early 90ies, underground all the way, being absorbed and carried away by the innovative new sound and beats, exploring and experiencing Techno to the fullest. Picture Hellraiser, The Goldfinger or Club Exposure.
Remembering the first time hearing Age of Love or Innercityexperiencing it as a kind of musical epiphany - at least back then. Getting to know DJ's like Gizmo, Buzz Fuzz, The Prophet, The Darkraver, Dano, Dimitri, Remy, Marcello and 100% Isis. Getting inspired by Jones and Stephenson with First Rebirth. Getting hooked to Techno. Always keepingtrack on the latest releases. Always.
The mission of these two aspiring and ambitious DJ's: create a platform to share the passion for Techno, show commitment to the music they love and unite all like-minded Techno heads to get lost in music. And in the end set a Benchmark.
