Biografie
Ceri Evans, Jazz pianist and former member of The Brand New Heavies, launched Sunship in 1991. Releases on the legendary Acid Jazz label followed and from there he became involved with the critically acclaimed Dorado label recording and producing as Sunship(1992).
From writing, producing and releasing his own material, it was only a matter of time before Ceri brought his considerable talents to the field of remixing, with Lisa Stansfield, Naughty By Nature, JTQ and many others benefiting from his musical expertise and his ability to fuse both beats and melody into the most seductive of musical packages. In the years since then he has been called to work with artists including Texas, Christina Aguilera,Gabrielle and Craig David to name but a few.
Ceri won a MOBO award as Best Jazz Artist for his self titled album "Sunship" on filter records in 1997. With a second solo album "Is This Real" displaying the usual adventurous styles, Ceri's place in the development of the British dance music is assured.
At some point we have all been touched by the music of Sunship even if we may have had no Prosolution knowledge of the fact. Sweet Female Attitude's "Flowers" was one of the most memorable records of Y2K (No.2 in the UK) and a massive club anthem. In addition to this, the Sunship remixes of Craig David's "Fill Me In" and "7 Days" became the staple diet of all self-respecting clubs, reaching anthemic proportions, as did his own singles, "Cheque One-Two" and 'Try me out'. His production of Misteeq's 'All I want' gave him another No.2 in the UK in 2002 and won the Dance Star award as best Producer that year to prove it.
Ceri's collaboration with the Jamacian Ragga vocals of "Warrior Queen" spawned the single "Almighty Father", a huge underground tune. Ceri also catapulted Lady Sovreign into the public eye with 'Chi-Ching, and has since been remixing for England (2007-to now) on various tips with the likes of Gabriella Cilimi, Tinchy Stryder, Cheryl Cole, Adam Lambert, Devlin ft Ed Sheeran, Josh Osho, Vida and Little Mix- Wings.
With UK garage retaining such an ardent following, and also picking up new followers realizing the strength of the music, Sunship is busier than ever in the clubs.
