Matamar

Matamar is a Czech republic based DJ project launched in summer of 2006 and formed by DJs Mark Airman and Mata C. In a very short time these Djs made a splash in the quiet waters of the Czech club scene and with great enthusiasm they made their way among the local dj community. Their resident night in Vertigo club was ranked in X Mag amongst the 24 top venues.

Soon they were off to a flying start of their DJ career, playing in various clubs around Czech and also on mainstage of Motor Summer fest in Slovakia. In the first year of their DJ career, Matamar gained acknowledgment in various Czech music awards. In the prestigious O2 Dance Music Awards 2006 they were voted #3 in the category "Discovery of the Year". In the Trance.cz Awards 2006 they were awarded #2 in the "Discovery of the Year" category, and #9 in the overall "Best Dj" category. Considering their short active career, this was a truly remarkable success.

During the years, Matamar played together at big nights like Entrance in Roxy, E-motion in Fléda,Selectro in Mecca or in another big clubs like Fabric or Retro Music Hall, alongside big names like Adam White , Alex Morph & Woody van Eyden , Richard Durand and Mike Foyle . Matamar finished year 2008 with their perfomance at prestigeous hall event Apokalypsa in Brno, playing for thousands of clubbers there. DJ UMEK (SVN) has declared that Apokalypsa is a massive event with same importance and quality as famous Mayday event in Germany. In their current dates, you can find regularly Prague's top clubs SaSaZu and Duplex, where Matamar are having their resident night called WOW.

Matamar were also regularly having their sets aired on radios like Akropolis, Dance Radio, Zlatá Praha or SeeJay. Their radioshow Language of Trance, which featured exclusive guestmixes from names like Ferry Corsten, Lange or Kyau Vs. Albert, is being broadcasted on more than 70 radios worldwide. Matamar are also having moderated show called WOW on Seejay radio.

Matamar's enthusiasm for music is shown in their sets, which are always full or energy and emotions and which feature different music styles. Their sound is hard to define, but mostly it is such a mixture of progressive house and electro with dubstep elements, but you can also catch Matamar playing pumping tech house. Their performances are full of positive energy, and the communication with their audience always is always vital for Matamar.
