Entering the woods. The story of Marc Dubois.
The summer of 2006. A life changing summer. The first time I entered a club. I saw a large crowd having an awesome evening and I saw one man causing this all, the deejay. I imagined myself standing there, playing one great hit after another. The whole evening left such an impression that I wanted to do more than just listen to the music.
That is when I discovered the world of deejay's. I started my way into being a deejay by experimenting with music editing programs. I tried to mix certain songs with each other and make it a great whole. I also found some sites where all kinds of deejay's from different countries shared their music. My knowledge of music grow together with my passion for it.

A couple of months later, I went back to the club where my interest in music started. I saw the same guy standing there behind the turntables. I had the courage to talk with him, and so I met Jacob van Hage. An experienced deejay from Rotterdam who could be found in the biggest clubs in The Netherlands. Together with some of the guidance of Jacob I set a goal for myself. I wanted to grow as a deejay into the music industry and I wanted people to experience that what I had experienced the first time I entered a club. Along the way, I met a lot of different deejay's who gave me the feedback I needed to further explore myself as a better deejay. Within this exploring I never rejected an opportunity to show myself to different kinds of crowds. From turn tabling at high school or college parties to being your deejay at clubs and events.

Besides exploring myself at the turn tables, I wanted to know more about the music industry. A big part of the music industry, besides the music, are the events. So I took on the challenge and made my own event. I called it 'STANK' (Dutch for Nasty Smell) and organised it in my hometown of Alphen aan den Rijn. As line up I put down some well known deejay's such as Dyna, Bassjackers, Vato Gonzalez and of course Jacob van Hage. I got a lot of great responses afterwards. It was one of the most well visited events in Alphen aan den Rijn and was appreciated by the crowd.

Shortly after STANK I joined the organisation 'SFFRMKRS'. They organised different events, mostly in Amsterdam and Alphen aan den Rijn, where I was one of the regular deejay's for a certain period of time, next to helping out with the promotion of some of their events.

And now, it's time to get to a higher level. I graduated and finished my study of multi-media interaction designer in Amsterdam. With graduating a lot of time came free. Time to work on my career and time to work on my goals. Time to put Marc Dubois out there. I'm working on a new logo design and on building my own website. My goals are still to grow as a deejay and I will do so by doing different gigs, getting more experience and keeping myself challenged.

In 2013 I will be heading to the studio to get started on recording my first tracks. Together with social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, I will try to keep in contact with my fans as well as creating my very own monthly mix tapes.

With these thoughts in mind, I am excited to put full effort into my career. As well as getting your support. You can expect a lot of me, as I expect a lot of myself.
