Biografie
Unusual and accessible, Lost Origin is set to deliver a new breed of hardcore. A recognizable sound, with fresh twists. Kicks, melody and powerful effects, Lost Origin is a name to take into account.
Born and raised in Washington near Newcastle, England, Andy Gorbould manifested himself as an outlaw, a drifter, a man of Lost Origin. Being drawn to the unknown and electronic side of music, it wasn't for long before Andy made his move and settled in Edinburgh: home of a lively drum 'n bass, hardcore and hardtek scene. As part of the Pedigree Skum, 6tm Anon and BBL Soundsystem collectives, Andy developed a taste for the unexpected. A taste which quickly translated into his own music.
Andy and the music Lost Origin produces is the direct result of a solid production curve. Starting out with hardware at a young age, Andy surrounded himself with gear and used every saved up penny to get his hands on 2nd hand hardware to build his own PC. Using Reason and Cubase since 2000, Andy is anything but a newcomer when it comes to studio work. It was simply a matter of time before Lost Origin would get noticed. And all that took, was a demo.
'The Collapse' is Lost Origin's first released track at The Third Movement. Being part of the exclusive 200th release ('Born out of resistance', 2012) as a newcomer, Andy had the task to come up with something so strong, one track alone would justify such a debut. Set to create something unusual and discordant, Lost Origin created a track that would stand out of the VST-driven standard hardcore process. He went back into the studio, picked up a microphone and recorded sounds that (to him) didn't fit in the hardcore genre. The result, a subtle middle finger to copycats: 'The Collapse'.
Shortly after his demo got picked up by The Third Movement, Lost Origin made the move to Europe. It was fall of 2012 and what better way to continue the inspirational vibe than to step out of the box. Now living in Gent (Belgium), trying to survive is the key in what can only be described as the start of a musical journey. Making ends meet while losing every second of spare-time in music, Andy has a healthy addiction to battle: the fine art of making hardcore & noise!
Behind the decks and in full control of the sound, Lost Origin is a name with a lot of skills to back him up. Andy has been DJing ever since he was a teenager and it shows. Set to surprise the audience with a unheard selection of hardcore tracks, he doesn't need much more than a sound system and a plugged-in set of headphones before limits can be pushed. Now 13 years in, he still loves being able to play great tracks that most people haven't heard. And he continues to do so, every chance he gets. With bookings in the UK, Spain and Belgium, signs of the Lost spreading are imminent.
Lost Origin's style can be described as hard and melodic. With his keyboard being an essential part of the studio, Lost Origin presents a new twist to mainstream hardcore. Unusual, accessible and layered sounds. Perfect dance floor material! Being a huge fan of instrumental music, Andy keeps vocals to a functional minimum as kick-drums and synths pave the way to maximum volume.
