Biografie
'No evening is the same', DJ Fem K likes to watch the crowd, feel their needs and blend her sound of sexy, at level best and alluring into the moment. Mixing masculin beats with feminine melodies the best she can, ranging from corporate events to clubs worldwide. Styles vary from lounge to deephouse to a mix of house- & danceclassics.
Her mother being a music teacher, it comes as no surprise that Femke grew up surrounded by music and instruments. A classically trained musician herself on piano and guitar, Femke's first love was ballet.
She moved to Amsterdam in the early 90s and discovered house in 1994 in Amsterdam's infamous club the Roxy. Femke started fiddling around with records and mixers soon after that, forgot all about ballet and put on her first record at a Healers' Loveboat afterparty, a staple in Amsterdam's clubbing era in those days.
Her career took off in the year 2000 when she was invited by female DJ-duo DJNA (DJ Annemiek and DJ Nathalie) to take over a residency at Stereo Sushi, a known breeding ground for young and talented DJs in Holland, where the roots of several other acclaimed DJs can be traced back to. Allowing her to refine her mixing skills, things quickly progressed after Stereo Sushi. Within a few months, Fem K was asked to play at parties like God Damn Funky, Home and Getaway and has been booked at some of Amsterdam's finest clubs and events.
Beyond Amsterdam, Heineken contracted her as one of the four Female Force DJs (DJ Marcella, DJ Natarcia & DJ Debra) who played at the annual FFWD Dance Parade and Pacha in Rotterdam. Femke also started to make a name for herself outside of Holland, gigs in Europe with Valencia and Monaco as her favorite and Mexico beyond that.
Special events crossed her path in 2004 and big brands continuous like to book her for her professionality and finetuned performance.
With a new look and feel, Fem K is maintaining her roots, but widening her horizon. Going international and putting her passion in producing tracks.
