Biografie
Ashley Casselle makes spacey house & techno with dashes of ambience and skippy grooves. As half of UK electronica act Ashtrax he received attention and plaudits from both sides of the Atlantic in the Noughties, creating atmospheric house music, breakbeats and modern disco in turn helping pave the way for his equally musical djing style to find an international arena, leading to dream slots and performances at the world's top clubs and festivals whilst recording for labels such as Junior Boys Own and Deviant Records.
As a solo artist he's now evolved his sounds further and settled upon simply using his own name (or just the surname) to front new recordings and collaborations.
Finding the ultimate point where a diverse set of influences can collide in harmony is his primary directive. Perhaps not many producers could argue that Brian Eno, Boards of Canada & The Smiths' richly layered and nuanced melodies could merge sweetly with the classic house of Ron Trent or earthy techno of Carl Craig, yet this is what he strives for in his productions on, most recently, English imprint Murge Recordings.
You can receive his thoughtfully programmed dj mixes as well presented podcasts (archived during more than 10 years of djing from Singapore to Shoreditch, LA to Derry), which are a good representation of his live deck skills where vinyl and digital remain happy bedfellows in a quest for the perfectly smooth mix transitions which make his club sets so addictive.
His CasselleShow on Hoxton FM attracted listeners far and wide recently in its first year and is another new facet to his ever evolving musical journey and notably diverse career.
The Dayrise Enterprise podcast series shows a flair for the more soulful and experimental side of his repertoire with a new label launch soon to host the exclusively made tracks and re-edits lovingly assembled for these spaced out dj journeys.
A daytime Sunday residency in deepest East London sees the Dayrise Enterprise mothership land in its own live 10 hour daytime sci-fi club setting to reflect the lushness and depth on offer here.
An artist album will be released in Summer 2018.
